Welcome back, amazing mama!
So far in our little journey together, we’ve demystified the basics of drop shipping and you’ve built your very own beautiful online store. Can you feel it? That dream of yours is starting to feel real, tangible, and so exciting.
Now, we arrive at the final—and most dynamic—part of our blueprint: getting lovely people to discover your shop and turn into happy, loyal customers.
If the word “marketing” makes you feel a little nervous, take a deep breath. Think of it less like selling and more like sharing. It’s about connecting with other mums, building a community, and joyfully sharing the amazing products you’ve so thoughtfully chosen.
Let’s dive in!
Getting Eyes on Your Store: Let’s Talk Social Media
Your online store is like a beautiful little shop tucked away on a lovely street. But without a sign out front or a friendly wave, how will anyone know to come inside?
This is where social media becomes your best friend. It’s how you’ll find your people, build relationships, and gently guide them toward your products.
You don’t need to be everywhere all at once, and especially when you’re just getting started. The secret is to pick just one or two platforms where you think your ideal customer is already hanging out and go all-in there.
- TikTok: Perfect if your products have a “wow” factor or solve a problem in a fun, visual way. Think satisfying cleaning gadgets, clever kids’ toys, or unique beauty tools. It’s all about short, authentic, and engaging videos.
- Instagram: A visual paradise. This is your go-to for lifestyle products. Think beautiful baby clothes, stylish home decor, wellness items, and anything with a strong aesthetic. Reels and Stories are your playground here.
- Facebook: A wonderful place for building a real community, especially in groups. It’s great for products that might need a little more explanation and for connecting with a slightly broader age range.
- Pinterest: A goldmine if your products are inspiring. Think home goods, fashion, party supplies, or craft kits. People come to Pinterest to plan and dream, which means they are often ready to buy.
A Simple Plan for Posting (Without the Overwhelm)
The thought of creating content every single day can be completely overwhelming. So let’s not do that. Instead, let’s create a simple, manageable rhythm that fits into your life.
1. A Weekly Brainstorm (Just 15 minutes!)
Once a week, maybe with a cup of tea after the kids are in bed, jot down a few ideas. What questions might your customers have? What problem can your product solve this week?
2. A “Batching” Hour (1-2 hours a week)
Set aside one chunk of time to create your content for the week. Take a few photos of your products. Record a couple of short, simple videos (an unboxing or a quick demo is perfect!). Write a few captions. Done.
3. Schedule It In (30 minutes)
Use a free tool like Facebook Creator Studio or Metricool (or paid ones like Planoly and Later) to schedule your posts in advance. This is a game-changer. It means you don’t have to think about what to post every single day.
4. Daily Connection (15 minutes a day, in little bursts)
This is the most important part. Pop in for a few minutes here and there to reply to comments and messages. Social media is about being social, and this is how you build real relationships.
Feeling a little stuck on what to even post? It’s so easy to overthink this part and fall into the trap of just posting pictures of your products over and over. But a great content plan is about so much more than that. It’s about helping, connecting, and inspiring.
This is where a true support system makes all the difference. Inside the Savvy Women Entrepreneurs Club, I help you go from ‘What do I post?’ to posting with purpose – every single time. You’ll get a constant flow of fresh content ideas and simple strategies designed to speak directly to your dream clients. Imagine finally saying goodbye to that blank-page anxiety and creating content that not only feels good but also attracts your people and drives sales, week after week.
You’re Not Just Selling a Product; You’re Building a Brand
In a busy online world, a strong brand is what makes you memorable. It’s the heart and soul of your business. And as a mumpreneur, you have a secret weapon that big, faceless companies don’t: you.
1. Define Your Brand from Day One
Before you post another thing, ask yourself:
- What’s my story? Why did I start this business? (Your “why” is so powerful and relatable!)
- What are my values? Is my shop all about sustainability? Simplicity? Fun? Joy?
- What makes my shop different? Is it my handpicked selection of products? My amazing customer service? My personal touch?
2. Be Consistent
Try to use a similar look and feel—like a consistent colour palette and font—across your website and social media. This helps people recognize you instantly. Your brand’s “voice” should also be consistent. Are you warm and friendly? Funny and witty? Inspiring and calm?
3. Prioritize Kindness (aka, Customer Service)
This is where you will truly stand out. You don’t control the shipping, but you do control how you communicate. Be responsive. Be empathetic, especially if there are shipping delays. A kind, quick, and helpful reply can turn a frustrated customer into a loyal fan for life. Happy customers don’t just buy again; they tell their friends.
4. Share Your Journey
This is your biggest advantage as a mum in business. Don’t be afraid to share little glimpses of your life. People connect with people, not perfect, polished logos. Sharing your “why,” your motivations, and even the challenges you overcome builds an authentic connection that is simply magnetic.
Struggling to figure out your unique brand story or what makes you different? It can be hard to see your own magic when you’re in the thick of it, and entrepreneurship can feel like a lonely roller coaster ride on the hard days.
